Observational Drawing (Ages 13-18)

  • Type

    Short course

  • Duration

    6 classes (120 mins / class)

  • Class Size

    1-8 students / class

In this course, we will learn the basics of how to draw from life. It will improve your technical skills, improve your hand-eye coordination, and you will learn to carefully observe the world around you. Drawing from observation is one of the hardest but most rewarding forms of art. Before we had photography, this was how people had to record and document the world around them. It teaches you the most basic skills of making art: looking and making marks - every other kind of art builds onwards from here! I will run you through some traditional drawing exercises, and then there will be time for some creativity and fun. We will also learn a bit of art history while we go! This course is for 13 to 18 year olds. You will need some pencils and paper (ideally soft pencils 2B-6B) and some objects you would like to draw.
