This course will cover
  • The world of Materials: The course covers Natural and Manmade materials with details of their properties. Children will be exposed to distinguish between the materials and frame their answer throwing light on the properties and usage.
  • Matter: Definition of matter, understanding of what matter is made of. Definition and understanding of Mass and Volume. Understanding the difference between Mass and Weight. Three different states of matter and their properties. Learning to measure Volume of regular and irregular objects. Packaging of particles in Solid, Liquid and gas. Backed up with active demonstration during class.
  • Life Cycles: Understanding life cycle of animal and plant kingdom. Why reproduction and life cycle are important. Understanding 2, 3 and 4 stage life cycle of animals. How are these life cycle different from each other and how are their young different from adult? Detailed understanding of 3 and 4 stage lifecycle of insects. Life cycle of flowering and non-flowering plant.
  • Magnets: Students can identify characteristics of magnets. What is magnetism and magnetic field? Poles of magnet and theory of attraction and repulsion. Understand magnets attract magnetic materials. Learn to differentiate between magnets and non-magnets. Make magnets by touch/stroke method. Uses of magnets.
