SECONDARY ONE- PHYSICS (Term 4)

  • Type

    Ongoing class

  • Duration

    10 classes (90 mins / class)

  • Size

    8 students / class

This course is for SECONDARY ONE students and will help them to love physics and to understand the Physics concepts along with their application in the real-world scenario. Students will be equipped in learning the concepts and understanding them thoroughly.
THIS COURSE WILL COVER:
1. Diversity: Physical properties and measurements
  1. explain choice of materials based on physical properties (density, strength, hardness, flexibiliy, electrical/ thermal conductivity, boiling/ melting point)
  2. estimate, measure, +/- error correction, zero / parallax errors
  3. metre rule, measuring tape, vernier callipers, micrometer screw gauge, displacement can, electronic balance, pendulum, ticker tape
  4. density formula, predict sink or float by comparison
  5. environmental impact of excessive paper and plastic, 3Rs
2. Interactions: Forces
  1. definition and effects of a force (start, stop, accel, decel, change direction, deform, turn)
  2. contact (frictional, elastic, electrostatic) and non-contact (magnetic, gravitational) forces
  3. mass vs weight, how to measure, precision vs accuracy
  4. acceleration = speed / time, calculations
  5. pressure, calculations, explain daily applications, atmospheric pressure phenomena
